This hotel is a hidden gem! Historic building that has been well renovated, clean, comfortable, centric, close to the freeways. No frills, but an amazing bar and next door coffee shop! And, parking was so easy and cheap when compared to all other hotels in LA. I highly recommend this place!

Exploring Los Angeles, the place where movies are made, you feel like you’re in a dream. Santa Monica Pier is the end point of the fabled Route 66, while just south is bohemian Venice Beach, lined by tall, swaying palms. Go slightly inland from the boardwalk to catch a glimpse of the canals that earned the area its name.
Head north to the golden beach and stunning scenery of Malibu and see why movie stars over the decades have settled here. Also popular with the rich and famous are Bel Air and Beverly Hills, home to exclusive Rodeo Drive.
And the reason for all this glitz and glamour? Hollywood, of course! Sitting high on a hill, the iconic sign is visible for miles around, while below the gold stars on Hollywood Boulevard immortalize celebrities of past and present. Be there on premiere night to see them grace the red carpet of Grauman’s Chinese Theater.
Over the hill is Universal Studios, with behind-the-scenes tours as well as rides. Next door are the Warner Brothers Studios, and Paramount Studios are closer to Downtown LA.
Whether you decide to live like a star in a luxury LA hotel or choose a cheap motel through Booking.com, it’s worth renting a car to get around this sprawling city and out to Los Angeles Airport (LAX).

I was only there for business, but the multitude of times I've been in LA have, in general, been good. I'm returning to the area in a week for vacation, but I'll be staying in a more touristy area.

You get what you pay for.
You get what you pay for. We just wanted a place to crash between flights and it was perfect. Rooms are clean and water was hot. The neighborhood is not as bad as I thought it could be. No homeless.

Honestly, I don't like LA a lot.
Honestly, I don't like LA a lot. I prefer Santa Barbara, San Francisco or Monterey in terms of city. LA is a very expensive city because all the touristic points are kinda far from each other and your options to move in the city are subway, uber or rent a car.
The issue is that in the subway you'll find a lot of users under the influence and, for first time travelers, it must be a shock. But it's the easiest way to move around.
The ubers are very expensive and renting a car will increase your chances to get in a lot of traffic jam.
There are some nice places such as the Farmer Market, observatory, Santa Monica and the Parks (universal and Disneyland). And of course the walk of fame but I found very tacky and ugly. The food is also good, you can find very nice restaurants and coffee. Bottega Louie was my favorite as well as the food in Farmers Market.
So my advice is to stay in a strategic place where you can avoid traffic jam and visit the places around. And plan a short stay and visit other places such as Santa Barbara, San Francisco and San Diego.

Great places to visit - hike to Hollywood sign, helicopter ride over the city, Laguna Beach, Venice beach, Santa Monica Pier.
Not so great - expensive! Busy during rush hours, big city to get around so need a car. Difficult to find healthy food options as few and far between. Prepare to queue!

Dodgers game was an addition to our trip and we truly enjoyed it. We found people in the city to be friendly and helpful. Favorite areas to stay were Beverly Hills and Hollywood. And downtown stay at the CitizenM was perfect to catch the game.

The beauty and scenery. And the movie locations. Visit to Hollywood and a tour of the movie sights. Very welcoming city. I would definitely visit again. Probably avoid the Hotel Indigo. Had the worst experience with their staff
Another great stay at the LTH. It's heating up, but the ceiling fans are keeping things comfortable
And I just realized that there are washers & dryers on site. I normally use expensive fluff and fold when I travel. But I saved some cash and used the washing machines at the hotel. Very convenient.
And of course the manager arranged for me to stay in my favorite room. The amazing 1st street vibe coming through my window always puts me in great mood. Many thanks to the hotel and staff for another great stay in the best area downtown.
there is a coffee bar and drink bar in the lobby of Moxy, and you can order some special breakfast too. Their services are great and friendly. Moxy Hotel is located in a really great area, and it takes about 17 minutes to get the central LA, downtown Los Angeles. There are some museums, stadiums and entertainment facilities around Moxy Hotel too. I like the Hotel's design, location and the top restaurant of the building. If you are lucky, you can book a corner room and you can see the whole view of downtown LA. Very modern hotel.
I stayed 2 nights at Metro Plaza Hotel and enjoyed my stay. The hotel is in a great location, just a few minute walk from Union Station which gets you to the Metro and FlyAway Bus to airport. I was able to walk to all the downtown museums and concert venue. The staff was extremely helpful, and flexible on check-out times. I appreciated that there were several people at the reception desk at all times, which made it feel safe. My room was quiet and the bed comfy. It is a great value in the center of LA, would recommend.
Great location at Venice beach, lots of great bars/restaurants in the area and in a short walking distance. The area was lively and it felt safe. It was a good location to stay and explore LA. Hotel is simple but comfortable, clean and has everything you need. Room has a good size, we had plenty of space for our 4 luggage. Our room was facing the parking lot and was extremely quiet to sleep at night. Parking is super convenient and much cheaper than in the rest of LA. Staff was friendly and nice.
This hotel is amazing!! Right in the middle of downtown LA and you can’t hear a thing inside!! Immaculately clean and so wonderfully comfortable. Best beds and pillows ever! The cafe in the lobby is scrumptious and the staff is courteous and professional.I cannot say enough nice things about this relaxing oasis. This is our second stay and we will definitely return for many more.
Nestled in the neighborhood of West Downtown L.A., this hotel may be situated in a dingy and sketchy area, but I surprisingly felt safe throughout my stay. Despite the neighborhood's atmosphere, the hotel itself showcased a cool, modern vibe one would associate with a boutique hotel, although the lobby and elevator's heavy use of air freshener was a bit overkill.
Great location only 10 minutes walk to the hall of fame and the hollywood downtown area, plenty of shops and bars and things to do all around, we picked this hotel as its 1 stop from universal studios.
The hotel itself had nice staff that allowed us to leave luggage when we checked out and also provided us with hot water for tea and breakfast in the mornings.
The building is from 1912. It’s truly amazing.
There is a swimming pool in an upper floor, an awesome rooftop, a gym with running track, a gaming room, a basketball court…
It all looks and feels very classy like a gentlemen’s club James Bond would be a member of.
We loved it. It’s a very special hotel in a perfect area in downtown L.A.
Excellent cost-benefit report at a typical standard found in the Best Western hotels chain. Free parking, breakfast included, and several amenities in the room. If you count their value (i.e., for a family of four members), you end up with one of the cheapest accommodations in LA at Best Western standards (i.e., cleanliness, etc).
I needed a cheap room close to the airport as a transit night before leaving the country - this hotel did the job pretty well. The room was a bit old and tired but the bed was good, the coffee machine worked and that was all that mattered! The 24-hour shuttle to the airport was a massive winner!
The actual hotel is just lovely however the condition of downtown Los Angeles is deplorable and I would never stay in the downtown core again. The level of filth and homelessness was just awful. Constant smell of urine and garbage everywhere.
It was a nice cosy hotel and cheap for the stay was quite centralised so easy to get to places, and the best part being the free parking which was hard to find in hotels in Los Angeles. Easy check in and friendly staff.
Centrally located hotel in Los Angeles, near the Downtown area. Faster Wifi than most similarly-equipped hotels we stayed in on our trip, and very clean rooms which a great bathroom, television and very comfortable bed.
The Ace Hotel is perfectly located in Downtown Los Angeles, with a friendly staff, great restaurants, and a small but lovely rooftop pool. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are well appointed. Very lovely.
Good breakfast; nice restaurants nearby and very convenient to the purpose of my visit: Kaiser Permanente's West Los Angeles campus. We took Lyft rydes to and from the hotel from airport, et.c
There weren't other cheaper options around the time I booked the hotel. I booked tommie hollywood without hesitation. Great location. Very close to hollywood walk of fame and universal studio.
